The Neighborhood House’s Homelessness Prevention Program assists individuals and families on the East Side of Manhattan (between 14th and 143rd Streets) and on Roosevelt Island to avoid homelessness through a variety of interventions, well-suited for our multidisciplinary settlement house model.

Our Homelessness Prevention Program’s goal is to prevent the eviction process, enable individuals and families to remain in or obtain permanent housing and/or assist them with supportive services during their experience of homelessness. Our trained team provides a holistic perspective offering information, referrals and help with accessing government benefits. The Program may also provide financial rental arrears assistance to eligible individuals and families with a one-time need to increase housing security and sustainability.

Our Homelessness Prevention Program is available at no cost to all individuals and families enrolled, provided they have an annual income below 30% of the median family income for the area.
